Getting your greywater permit

Posted by on Jan 5, 2016 in Greywater Permit | Comments Off on Getting your greywater permit

Greywater is the water that you generate from such activities like washing your clothes, cleaning and bathing with an exception of the toilet use. The water can be reused in the toilet and outside as irrigation water. However, you need to have a permit top reuse the water.

States regulate the use of the greywater in the fields and at home for some reasons namely

  • Protecting the natural water resources from pollution by greywater. If the release of greywater is not controlled, there is the likelihood that some wastewater may end up in drinking water resources and cause pollution and diseases.
  • Protect the human population from the spread of water-borne diseases. There is also the likelihood that some people may end up consuming the greywater and getting infected with the diseases. Some of the diseases can be spread over a bigger population in a very short time.

Here are the processes to getting the greywater license

Determine what to do with the water

You have to have a plan for the utilization of the water that you seek to be allowed to use. You may use the water to irrigate your orchard, to start a wildlife conservancy on the backyard wetlands, start a greenhouse or reuse the water to flush the water. Take time and learn how each of the uses of the water can work safely. You could enroll at Open Permaculture School and Regenerative Leadership Institute and learn more on the use of grey water.

Pick a location for the greywater system

Pick the location from which you are to implement the water recycling program, the soils in place and the plants that can thrive in the environment. This will help you choose the right system to invest in. The location must not flood nor have a slope of less than 45 degrees. Moreover, the groundwater must be at least 4 feet below the ground surface.

Design your system

Design the system that you are to use to recycle the waste water and the characteristics of the land on which you plan to implement the system. Document every relevant information about your project. Include all evaluation reports and finding that you have done.

Apply for the permit

In many states and governments, you can apply for a permit online conveniently. There is always a form that you should fill and attach your supporting documents. If the request is accepted, you shall get an email giving you a go ahead together with the certificate. In some cases, you will have to go for the certificate.

Diversity in Permaculture Design

Posted by on Jan 5, 2016 in Permaculture design | Comments Off on Diversity in Permaculture Design

In permaculture design, diversity is a term used to refer to polyculture and diversity of beneficial species to create an interactive and productive system. This principle is rather complex as it is built on several ecological concepts, which you must understand to comprehend the principle of diversity.

These include:

Monoculture: Refers to growth of one crop in one area. Monocultures are ecologically unstable, lack diversity and don’t exist naturally.

Polyculture: Raising more than one plant or animal species in the same place and at the same time. It is the natural state of affairs, where organisms coexist with beneficial relationships among one another.

Polycultures are based on the principle that nature builds ecosystems from a variety of species available in an area. They don’t discriminate on the basis of whether or not a species is exotic, indigenous or native. And while they do evolve, change or grow with time, ecosystems formed by polycultures are ever stable. This is unlike monocultures whose integrity lasts for a short period of time before degrading.

Natural ecosystems also exhibit a high degree of order. And when it comes to living systems, artificial arrangement and tidiness have very different meaning from order. Artificially, order constitutes the following:

  • Rectilinear designs
  • Artificial grouping of plants
  • Extremely energy and labor intensive
  • Strict planting patterns
  • Highly defined boundaries
  • Monocultures

The main problem with this artificial approach is that it wasteful of energy and other resources, and they often result in destruction of ecological systems. Natural order, which refers to order as a result of harmonious cooperation and relationships among species in an ecosystem, and which enables it to remain sustainable and self-sufficient is of paramount importance when it to diversity and permaculture design.

We have to remember that not all species in an ecosystem coexist harmoniously for varied reasons like competition of resources. The key thing to remember is that they exist cooperatively to create stability. It therefore follows that diversity in permaculture design is more than the number of elements. It is more about choosing elements that form more functional relationships or functional connections amongst themselves. In the words of Bill Mollison, author of Introduction of Permaculture, it is not the number of things but the number of ways in which things work.  When it comes to diversity, the main objective should be creating groups of elements that work beneficial together. Such groups are known as guilds.

In summary, the design principle of diversity emphasizes that growing plants with beneficial relationships together leads to better yields, increased system resilience, and resistance to diseases as well as pests, for more you should check regenerative leadership institute.

Retreating, a training session for the need of the hour:

There is always a thought of recession when the mind reaches the state of saturation. There are lots of programs that deal in such a situation. The retreat program offered by regenerative leadership institute for regenerative learning is one such program that allows understanding being the frame of calmness of mind. There are sessions conducted in this regard that will pep you up towards the new angle of life!

The main things that are concentrated on in this program:

This program is for those who have been stressed out by the relevant issues faced in life and are in search for the solace in mild silence. This is given here in institute to them. This program is a built up theme for those who are looking into life from a different stream of world and expect solace amidst the approach of the said activities in the program. Apart from these, the program also implies in the sections like meditation, development of the qualities of leadership, communication style, etc, In other words it concentrates on the personality development. This course runs for a year so no sessions that are conducted monthly has to be missed or withdrawn from eventually. If so done, then one would lose the importance of learning the systematic techniques evolved through the classes.

There would be coaching classes conducted in this regard that have to be attended by the enrolled participants in order to imbibe the completeness of the program. The culture that is followed in the current world far away from the nature is reminded in these sessions. People perspire more in the quest and thirst of gaining from the artificial or manmade ‘attires’ of happiness. This will enable the purpose of the process to be inclined towards the natural aspects which our forefathers lived and enjoyed with. The nature as it is seen from anybody’s point of view appears to be beautiful.

However, how much we take care of it without abusing it with some habits of humans is taught in this training! There is a combination of leadership and the nature aspect that is unique in the training and which leads to a new invention of understanding between the segments accordingly. This explains who is the leader and the importance of the empowerment that the leader has towards his followers. These steps told by the program in detail enables the participants to learn the intent of being a leader with the leadership qualities which is majorly the inclusion of patience.

Instructor’s task in executing the job of training:

P1140604The structure of the program depicts the importance of expressing the leadership in the most effective way and it is based for urban concept even though the traditional nature is included in forum. The instructors are well trained to give you the best of the best lessons in the field of the said prospects and prepare you for the upcoming stage of perfection in leadership. Overall the access to quality is found in the course!

Organic food production and permaculture

Posted by on Oct 2, 2015 in Healthier Way of Producing Food, Organic Agricultural Production, Permaculture Food | Comments Off on Organic food production and permaculture

Despite living in a modern society, where everything is fast and industrialized, there is a rising number of those who want to eat or even produce organic food, return what they take from the nature and make up for all the resources they exploit. One of the disciplines tightly connected to organic food production is permaculture – a discipline relating “permanent” and “agriculture” into a whole at first, and later spreading to many other aspects of human living. The discipline and the term were invented by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren in the seventies of the previous century, and today, one of the leading advocates of permaculture is Vladislav Davidzon. If you’re interested you can attend Permaculture Design Certificate Courses offered by the Permaculture Institute. Permaculture relies on many different sciences, such as architecture, ecology, biology, agriculture, chemistry and many more. Its goal is to take care of the Earth, of the people, and to return every surplus, which are the main principles of this discipline. It is based on observing and copying the patterns of nature, whether it comes to building a shelter or growing plants in a garden. Whatever you make and base it on permaculture, it will be fully self-sustained, ecological, Earth-friendly and in harmony with nature.

Organic-AgricultureWhen it comes to establishing organic agricultural production, it must meet precisely defined conditions. Some of them are the isolation of land parcels and processing capacities from possible sources of pollution, then the appropriate quality of water for irrigation (in permaculture production rainwater or water from a well is usually used), the coordinated development of crops and livestock and the competence of experts and manufacturers for organic agriculture (if there is a large, serious production).

The main goal of organic agriculture is the production of healthy food with high nutritional value, the development of sustainable agriculture while preserving ecosystems, while maintaining and enhancing soil fertility through the cultivation of legumes and application of organic manure or plants with deep roots. It is understood that it is done with the maximum use of renewable energy sources, such as solar panels or windmills so that no resources are wasted. Food produced according to the principles of organic agriculture is safe from the presence of any artificially synthesized substances and pesticides, because the crops are protected by planting them together with the plants that protect each other from diseases and pests, and by using phytoncides.

Due to high demand and lack of production because of high soil and air pollution and disturbed relationships in nature, developed countries encounter a shortage of organic products on the market. The laymen claim that organic farming is more expensive than conventional one, which is true only if viewed superficially. Higher prices for organic products are primarily the result of higher labor costs, which in developed countries are very expensive. On the other hand, the market is short in supply of these products, which certainly affects the level of prices.

Permaculture Principals to Grow More Food

03a96a6If you wish to start living healthier and change not only your nutrition, but your way of life, a good way to start is by growing your own organic food. Following the principles of permaculture will enable you to make a fully self-sustaining garden, which will bring you healthy and nutritious fruit and vegetables. It may seem confusing at the beginning, but on the long track, it is the best, the most certain, profitable and the most fun way of getting fresh and healthy organic food.

Urban Zoning

Posted by on Oct 2, 2015 in Organizing garden, Permaculture design | Comments Off on Urban Zoning

All of us, at some point in our lives, started planting our own plants and building up our little garden. Many did it in the right way, but after few months most of people lost interest and they abandoned their gardens. And without continuous work in garden weed took over, and garden failed to produce what it should have been your food.

But with a knowledge of permaculture designs, which you can obtain on some courses, just search the internet for permaculture and Vladislav Davidzon for that info, you can build your food gardens which will require less work than your normal gardens need. And you can find a lot of permaculture design examples, so it can give you an idea how to organize plants better.

75e91cb8-e204-40b2-9b5a-3acd25f4087dThe idea of permaculture design is to plant what you need most where it will be most accessible. This means that if you need a certain species of plant you should plant it nearer to your home and your kitchen, and things you use less can be grown further away. Placing your garden at the back corner of your back yard can be inconvenient during bad weather or you simply being tired. If you place your garden near your house you won’t have to hike to tend it, it will be at your doorstep.

Place your garden in a place you will not neglect it. It can be around your pavement so you will always, on your way in or on your way out be able to notice what your garden needs. And it will be a nice sight when plants, free of weed, well taken care of, start to grow. Once again plants you will use more regularly should be in front, so even if you don’t have time to take care of all needs your garden has, you will do those that are in front.

Permaculture Homestead Design

Most of these issues are not problems that will affect farmers and people living in rural area. They way of life includes farming and food gardens which provide them food for all year. This is affects people living in small suburbia and urban areas with houses that have small patches of green around. People that want gardens should take into considerations everything their small patches of land have. Different posts, and walls can be used for vine type plants to climb on, you can place hanging pots with your favorite plants around your house, where it is sunny.

If you don’t have time to tend daily to your small garden but you still like having one, and having fresh food you have grown on your table there is a way for you to have that kind of garden too. The point is to use plants that require less attention. You can plant few fruit trees or some bushes with berries, they require no attention at all, but also they grow less frequently.

permaculture_garden_main_630_1a3eo5b-1a3eo6dPermaculture gardens are like that and they are based on one basic rule. You will get from your garden in proportion how much you invested time in it. There is no going around this rule. Plants that have yields more often require your day to day attention, and those that have yields annually require little or no attention at all.
